Most men measure wrong, usually in their own favour, sometimes against it. The method below is the one the clinical studies use, so your number is comparable with theirs:
- Get fully erect and stand up. Flaccid size changes with cold, nerves and the time of day. It says almost nothing.
- Ruler on top, pressed to the bone. Use a rigid ruler, not a tape. Lay it along the top of the shaft and press gently into the fat pad until you feel the pubic bone. That's the clinical "bone-pressed" length.
- Read at the tip. End of the head. Foreskin overhang doesn't count, and neither does pushing the ruler down at an angle.
- Girth around the middle. Wrap a soft tape or a piece of string around mid-shaft, mark where it meets, lay it flat on the ruler.
- Repeat on another day. Two or three readings on different days, then average them. One reading is a mood, three are a measurement.
What's actually average
The best data we have is a 2015 review in BJU International by David Veale and colleagues. They pooled studies where a clinician did the measuring (no self-reporting allowed) covering up to 15,521 men. For erect size:
- Average erect length: 13.12 cm (5.17 in). Measured on 692 men.
- Average erect girth: 11.66 cm (4.59 in). Measured on 381 men.
The spread is narrow. Roughly two thirds of men sit within about 1.7 cm (two thirds of an inch) of the average length. The internet says otherwise because the internet is self-reported, and men round up. Porn says otherwise because porn casts for size, the same way basketball casts for height.
If your report says you're below average, welcome to half the planet. If you're genuinely worried, or something changed (curvature, pain), that's a conversation for a urologist, not a calculator.
Penis size by country: why we ask, and why you shouldn't trust the maps
You've seen the maps. Country X on top, country Y at the bottom, shared a million times. Most of them are built from self-reported surveys, different measuring methods and samples so small they wouldn't pass a school science fair. Some sources are simply unknown. The Veale review, which only used clinician measurements, didn't find a clear difference between regions.
So why do we ask where you're from? Because nobody has decent country data, and we'd like to build some. Your answer is stored anonymously with your numbers. When a country has enough men in it, we'll publish the averages, with an honest warning: it's still self-measured, and men still round up.

What is the average erect penis size?
13.12 cm (5.17 in) long and 11.66 cm (4.59 in) around, according to clinician-measured data in Veale et al., 2015. That's the reference this calculator uses.
Is penis size different by country?
Probably a little, but nobody knows reliably. The famous rankings mix self-reporting, different methods and tiny samples. The best review available found no clear difference by region.
Why does my size feel smaller than porn?
Because porn is a sample of outliers, shot from flattering angles. Comparing yourself to it is like judging your height against an NBA roster.
Do you store my measurements?

How accurate is the percentile?
As accurate as your ruler. The calculator assumes sizes follow a bell curve around the published average, which is how the original nomograms were built. Measure the clinical way and it's a fair answer.
